For more than five decades, Dr. David Stulberg has been recognized as one of the world’s leading orthopedic surgeons, educators, innovators, and humanitarian leaders.
As Professor of Orthopedic Surgery at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine, he founded and directed Northwestern Memorial’s Joint Reconstruction and Implant Service. He has pioneered advances in computer-assisted and minimally invasive joint replacement surgery.
In 2006, Dr. Stulberg recruited Dr. Victoria Brander and they founded Operation Walk Chicago with a simple belief: access to life-changing surgery should not depend on where a person is born or their ability to pay. With his vision and guidance volunteer teams have restored mobility, independence and dignity to thousands of suffering patients around the world.
Through surgical missions, education and sustainable healthcare partnerships, Operation Walk Chicago has transformed lives while training future generations of healthcare professionals committed to excellence and service to others. His commitment to training young clinicians is legendary.
Dr. Stulberg’s contributions have earned numerous honors, including the Maurice E. Müller Award for Lifetime Achievement in Computer-Assisted Surgery and the establishment of the S. David Stulberg Professorship in Surgery at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine.
Above all, he is a devoted husband, father and proud Papadoc to six grandchildren.
